About the Producer
The Könster winery is located next to the River Main before it meets the Rhine, and the vineyards are located on a south-facing hillside. Such a privileged location provides abundant sunshine and a cool climate for the planting of the vines. The winery has a total of 50.5 hectares of vineyards, mainly in Hochheim, and a few in Kostheim, Rudesheim and Assmannshausen, of which 79 % are planted with the grape variety Riesling, 14.8% with Pinot Noir (Spatburgunder), and a small amount of Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Merlot and other well-known varieties. The soil types in these regions are diverse, rich in clay, marl and limestone, producing wines with minerality and pronounced acidity, with intense floral and fruity aromas. For the cultivation of grapes, Const Winery pays great attention to the concept of environmental protection and respects the laws of nature, and adopts measures such as vegetation coverage and meticulous canopy management to ensure the health of the grapes. The gentle and careful care of the vines is also a major feature of Const Winery. The vineyard management work of the winery, such as thinning and cutting leaves, grape harvesting and sorting, are all done manually. In the winemaking process, Const Winery always adheres to the principle of quality first, and strives to retain the original flavor of high-quality grapes to the greatest extent. In the 2019 Gault Millau Wine Guide, the authoritative German wine guide, Könster was awarded 4 bunches of red grapes. In 2020, the winery was awarded four and five stars by Gerhard Eichelmann and Falstaff Magazine respectively.
