About the Producer
Domaine Gitton is currently managed by Pascal, his wife Denise, and their daughter Chanel. The estate's origins trace back to Pascal's grandmother, who initially cultivated a few vines for her shop and bar. Over the years, Pascal's father expanded the vineyard to its current size of 33 hectares, primarily on silex soils, which were once considered difficult to cultivate but are now prized for their ability to produce exceptional wines. The average age of the vines is nearly 50 years, contributing to the depth of flavor in the wines. The winemaking process is characterized by low intervention, with grapes from each vineyard vinified separately to preserve their unique qualities. Fermentation occurs using natural indigenous yeasts, and the wines are aged in either large oak barrels or stainless steel tanks, allowing for slow maturation before bottling. This traditional approach results in rich, complex flavors that reflect the terroir of Sancerre, distinguishing Domaine Gitton's offerings in the region.
