About the Producer

The Coche-Dury estate was established during the inter-war years and significantly expanded from 1964 onward, under the guidance of Georges, the father of Jean-François Coche-Dury. Georges focused on increasing vineyard holdings and shifted from selling in bulk to bottling wine for direct sale. Jean-François continued this vision after inheriting the estate in 1972, prioritizing quality over quantity. When acquiring a new vineyard plot, he often divests from a less desirable one, ensuring that the estate maintains only the highest-quality vineyards. Today, Jean-François runs the domaine with the assistance of his son, Raphael. With a total of 10.5 hectares, Domaine Coche-Dury is relatively small, with 9 hectares in Meursault and additional plots in Pommard, Monthélie, Auxey-Duresses, Puligny-Montrachet, and Corton-Charlemagne. The estate produces approximately 60,000 bottles annually. Vineyard work is conducted with meticulous care, emphasizing yield limitation through precise pruning. In the cellar, winemaking practices are traditional, with the same attention to detail. After gentle pressing and settling, fermentation occurs in barrels, with half of the barrels renewed each year for the top wines. The lees are regularly stirred during the twenty months of barrel aging, and the wines are racked twice before being bottled by hand, unfiltered.
