About the Producer
Domaine Paul Prieur et Fils is a family-owned winery located in Verdigny, Sancerre, in the Loire Valley. With a legacy spanning 11 generations, the Prieur family is currently led by Luc Prieur. The winery's emphasis on quality and sustainability has garnered numerous accolades and high scores from wine critics, establishing them as one of the top producers in Sancerre. The estate covers 19 hectares, with 14 hectares dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc and 5 hectares to Pinot Noir. Known for their organic viticulture and experimental biodynamic practices, the vines are cultivated 100% organically, with their first AB-certified vintage released in 2022. Prieur’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in every aspect of their winemaking, utilizing cover crops, horse plowing, hand-picking, natural pest control methods, and solar panels. For white wines, the grapes are pneumatically pressed and vinified without added SO₂, then aged in stainless steel, wooden tanks, or 600-liter barrels without filtering. The red wines are vinified either partially or entirely whole cluster in open tanks, also without added SO₂. After a long maceration, the reds are aged in wooden tanks or older barrels for about 15 months, unfined and unfiltered. Domaine Paul Prieur et Fils exemplifies the family's dedication to their land, traditions, and sustainable winemaking practices. Their wines are celebrated for their balance and elegance.
