Description
The Macallan M, 2022 Release, among the darkest of The Macallan outturns, shines a light on a rare selection of irreplaceable casks. Prolonged contact with sherry oak has burnished a deep and brooding single malt. One of the darkest whiskies we create, M is matured in a small hand selected number sherry-seasoned oak casks and showcases The Macallan’s rich natural colour proudly. This rare and exclusive spirit epitomises transparency as the quality of the whisky glistens in the crystal Lalique decanter, encapsulating our naturally dark spirit. A personification of the rich influence that sherry seasoned oak casks have on the spirit which rests within. The spirit is presented in a flawless crystal decanter. Individually numbered, it is the expert work of Lalique, doyen of French glass making since 1888. The six facets of the decanter reflect and refract light, dancing the dark whisky to life. Their inspiration stems from The Macallan’s six defining pillars, namely, The Estate, our Curiously Small Stills, Exceptional Oak Casks, Sherry Wine, Natural Colour and Mastery. Together, they underpin the renowned quality and rich character of our whisky.
About the Producer
The Macallan was among the first distillers in Scotland to receive a legal license, establishing itself as one of the world’s premier single malt whiskies. Its creation is influenced by the natural raw materials from Spain, North America, and Scotland, all harmoniously blended with traditional methods and craftsmanship. Founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher, The Macallan distillery is rooted in history. The original name of the area, “Maghellan,” derives from the Gaelic word “magh,” meaning fertile ground, and “Ellan,” referring to the monk St. Fillan, who had a close connection to the church that stood on The Macallan Estate until 1400. For centuries, local farmers had been producing whisky from their surplus barley during the quieter winter months.
