About the Producer
Domaine Vatan, renowned for its exceptional terroir and minimalist traditional methods, produces some of the Loire’s finest Sancerres from the famed terres blanches soils in Chavignol, Amigny, and Verdigny. The monopole Clos la Néore, tended by thirteen generations since 1789, features nearly fifty-year-old vines. Under Edmond's stewardship, and now his daughter Anne's, the estate employs organic viticulture and meticulous low yields to create concentrated wines. Fermentation occurs in century-old 600-liter foudres, with minimal sulfur usage. This instinctive approach results in rich, complex Sancerres, reflecting their unique terroir, yet the dwindling one-hectare holding makes them increasingly rare.
