About the Producer
Weingut Hirtzberger is situated in Spitz, a picturesque town on the Danube in Lower Austria's Wachau wine region. Founded by Franz the elder, who identified the best single-vineyard terraces and co-founded the Vinea Wachau, the winery has thrived under the leadership of Franz the second since 1983. He emphasizes high-quality wine production through natural cultivation methods, rigorous yield control, and meticulous hand-harvesting. The grapes are fermented in steel tanks without chaptalization and aged in traditional large oak barrels. Annually, approximately 150,000 bottles are produced, with wines that are enjoyable upon release and “smaragd” varieties capable of long-term aging.
