This 2015 wine was a barrel sample, although the final blend has been done. It is due to be bottled in February 2018. The deep purple-black colored 2015 Quella is scented of warm blackcurrants, blackberry pie and wild blueberries with hints of dusty soil, dried leaves and crushed stones plus a hint of scorched earth. Full-bodied with lovely, fine-grained tannins and just enough freshness, the fruit is earthy/mineral-laced and beautifully restrained, finishing long and savory.

Bottled in early 2018, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Quella gives aromas of blackcurrants, black cherries and mulberries with touches of tobacco, new leather, iron ore and truffles plus a hint of tree back. The palate is full-bodied, muscular and laden with earth and mineral layers, finishing with persistent savory notes.

The Quella is somber and brooding in 2015. Dark cherry, plum smoke, tobacco, leather, spice and scorched earth give the 2015 distinctive baritone inflections. There is quite a bit of density and textural resonance, but at the same time, the Quella is not particularly expressive. Perhaps bottling has affected the Quella more than it has the other wines in the range, as it was quite showy from barrel. I have seen Quella go through a period of reticence after bottling, so I won't be at all surprised if all it needs is time.

The 2015 Quella is another superb wine from the BOND team. Lavender, plum, spice, crushed rocks and savory herbs give the 2015 much of its sheer appeal. Deeply pitched mineral notes add tension and energy throughout. The Quella is another wine where all the elements are simply in the right place. The 2015 is an especially gorgeous Quella.
